On September 19th, at Phuket Provincial Hall, Teerayuth Aiumtrakul, a Vice Governor of Phuket, presided over the opening of ‘Phuket Car Free Day 2010’. The event was held by the Phuket Cycling Club. On the day, 400 cyclists rode their bicycles around Phuket City Municipality area to campaign for people to cycle more instead of driving cars as well as to raise awareness of the related sectors to providing more bicycle lanes and parking. The annual event was first held by the Thailand Cycling for Health Club in all regions of the country.
Teerayuth said that cycling was not only good for the health, but it was becoming a popular sport among people in Phuket. Moreover, Phuket Cycling Club supported the youth and adult cyclers to join many tournaments every year.
