The information from PMBC shows that there are around 33 turtles stranded on the beach each year, 58% of them alive but most of the alive turtles were injured especially at their flipper from the fishing nets. Now PMBC takes care of 31 injured turtles some of which cannot be released. The existing pond now is in the bad condition.
Money from MKMTF will construct the new rehabilitation pond with the water system for long term health care of these turtles.
Youth from schools in Mai Khao which join Bright Project started their own environment activity already. Ta Chat Chai School had activities to collect the waste in the community and planted trees in the beach forest near Sarasin Bridge. This event is to celebrate the HRH Queen Sirikit’s Birthday on 12th August also. In September, youth from Ban Mai Khao School learned how to make the products from the milk plastic bags. They plan to send their products to a competition by the end of this year.
