Bangkok Hospital Phuket or BHP realizes that environment and natural resource problems are caused by changes in human lifestyles. The problems will soon affect humans if they still overlook what they have done to nature. Certainly, humans will have no way to run away from such problems.
Therefore BHP begins to use art as a tool to encourage children, the new generation of humans, to realize how important saving the environment is. Art helps children to develop their creative thinking, gentler mind, and environmental care. All these things contribute to make children love and preserve the earth; art also makes family members come closer.
On Earth Day 2010, BHP opened its ‘Art for Earth’ exhibition at the 1st floor of the hospital. The exhibition displays water colored paintings created by Holly Maitland Smith, a 5 year old artist who conveyed her imagination about environment preservation into her paintings. The exhibition lasts from April 22nd – May 30th, 2010. In the same area, some T-shirts, painted with Dugong on, are being sold to generate money for a children’s library construction in Samakkee Dharma Forest Temple in Kuraburi district, Phang Nga.
