Work, Live, Play & Eat with Chanintat Pachantabutr

Chanintat Pachantabutr

Chanintat Pachantabutr,

affectionately known as Mon, tries to follow a philosophy he once learnt from a prominent businessman. That is to feel as if he is on holiday while he is working. This doesn’t mean Mon tries to have endless fun on the job, but he seeks enjoyment in every facet of his career, a career that often takes him through three different industries in one day.

And in that aim, Mon has succeeded. He blends his local roots with an international education and embraces everyday of his expanding career with youthful energy, as he Works, Lives, Plays and Eats his way toward a bright future.

“My biggest role models are definitely my parents, without their guidance and support I would not be where I am today.”

The Patak Villa Premium Townhomes are prime examples of quality, innovation and easy living.

Patak VillaMon’s working life began with one of the essentials of living; building homes. Almost immediately after returning from Trent University in Ontario, Canada, he took an active role in his family’s real estate venture, Patak Villa.

Patak Villa was important in the growth of the Chalong area and its popularity among residents inspired Mon to give it a slogan. His “Lovely community @ Chalong Bay” provided him with core business skills he still uses today. Its latest phase, the Patak Villa Premium Townhomes are on the verge of completion, with buyers already moving into finished units.

The Townhomes set themselves apart from the rest, with parks and common areas that exceed minimum regulations, as well as a contemporary atmosphere that Mon and his team worked hard to create.

If anyone can prove that flying from tree to tree on ziplines or stepping off boats onto a pearl white private beach can be considered work, it’s Mon.

“Some people think I’m lucky, in part that is true, but success is not eternal, you have to fight to continue what your family has built. You must never forget your roots.”Flying Hanuman

Flying Hanuman

28 custom designed platforms, sending you flying on ziplines at speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour, at heights of
up to 40 metres.

Set to open in December, Flying Hanuman is Mon’s latest creation and “Phuket’s ultimate jungle experience”, showing a completely different side to the Pearl of the Andaman. It is a multi-layered attraction, opening the door to the beauty of untouched forest in the hills of Kathu and giving a glimpse into how humans benefit from what nature provides. The area bears rubber trees, a variety of tropical fruit and fresh water. Flying Hanuman is a true top Eco-attraction.

Coral Island – Banana Beach

You can’t deny that Phuket’s shining characteristics are its Sea, Sun and Sand, a fact that Mon has considered with great care.  His family has set up discrete businesses on Banana Beach of Coral Island, just a 10 minute speedboat ride from Chalong Marina.

Visitors can move between the clear blue water – teeming with aquatic life – to the restaurant with only a few steps. Diving, snorkelling, kayaking, beach chairs and more let you choose between being active or leisurely.

To top it all off, the boat ride home showcases fantastic views of southeast Phuket, the Big Buddha, the rolling hills and stunning sunsets. Coral Island Banana Beach is one of the island’s best and easiest day trip options.

Mon’s younger brother Mann and his older sister May are both graduates of overseas hospitality schools. The siblings have joined forces, combining their expertise in continuing the success of Kan Eang@pier and the other family ventures.

Eat“We use coconut husks to barbecue our seafood, a unique method introduced by my father in 1973.”

After a day in the jungle, on construction sites or surveying a peaceful beach, Mon usually ends up in Kan Eang@pier,
a family restaurant that can be traced back over 30 years. It is very special to the entire family because it has been around so long and grown so much since its beginnings.

Today, Kan Eang is a warm, classy but relaxed venue, made all the better by fresh seafood supplied daily and the soft sounds of small waves beating against the seawall. Local specialties and even Japanese cuisine can be savoured, with light live Jazz music playing in the background.

“Over the years, Kan Eang has grown to be more than a restaurant. Food is its core but now it has music, events, distinctive bar sections and more ideas are coming. I am excited about where it will grow next.”

Vset’s recipes come directly from the mind of multiple award winning chef, Ronnie Macuja.

VsetWith an eye on the future, the Pachantabutr family decided to proceed with an entirely new restaurant concept and design. From this idea, Vset was born, a restaurant that serves innovative modern western dishes.

Vset’s recipes come directly from the mind of multiple award winning chef, Ronnie Macuja, a man who came to Thailand after meeting Mon and his mother in his home country of New Zealand many years ago. He and his team prepare each item with care and precision.

The delicious and thoughtful menu is supplemented by one of the warmest atmospheres you will find in Phuket. Vset has definite class but shares much of the humble laidback feel so unique to Kan Eang, making it an ideal choice for supreme quality without the pretentions of a formal restaurant.

monIn Closing

Mon has influence that spans many industries and brings a lot of life and colour to Phuket, but his vision extends beyond that. He explains that he hopes the island’s private and public sectors develop with international standards in mind but keep Phuket’s local touch, adding that in doing this, entrepreneurs and businessmen need to have social responsibility and respect for the environment.

In his mind, he believes with the right path, every Pachantabutr business can set an example for others to follow.
