Phuket hotel occupancy to soar during Songkran It looks like this year’s Songkran, to be celebrated 13-16 April 2013, is going to be a busy with many of the hoteliers in the beach areas reporting numerous enquiries about vacancies, and most of the island’s hotels reporting 75-80% occupancy, the figure is expected to soar come actual Songkran.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office Director – Mr. Chanchai Duangjitt said the 4 days of Songkran are likely to bring no less than 600-700 million baht to the island. This year has seen larger numbers of Europeans still in Thailand for this period due to the cold weather still being experienced in many European countries. However, it is expected that a large number of these tourists will start to return home at the end of April or mid May.
