Phuket Governor asked to look into Patong corruption

Phuket Governor asked to look into Patong corruptionOn 14th November 2012 at Phuket Town Hall, Deputy Mayor of Patong – Mr.Chairat Sukaban and President of the Entertainment Association of Patong – Mr.Werawith Kruasombat met with Phuket Governor – Mr.Maitree Inthusut to discuss the possibility of an extension for the opening hours of Patong’s entertainment venues.

Mr.Werawith said, “We want to ask the governor of Phuket to extend the closing time of the entertainment venues as most visitors to Patong’s don’t come out until late in the night. Due to the closing times of the venues many tourists hang around on the streets and the beach drinking alcohol purchased form convenient stores. This is has a great impact not only in terms of the cleaning required after but also on the tourists safety.”

He added “We would also like to bring to the attention of the Governor the problems we experience with regards to corruption in the government departments. All departments want payments from all Patong’s nightlife venues and the amounts are continuously increasing. We need the Governor to investigate the corruption going on within these agencies. We want fairness for entertainment venues.”
