JW Marriott Phuket Donate to Help Endangered Sea TurtlesJW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, on behalf of the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, recently donated THB 100,000 to the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) to the Injured Turtle Rehabilitation and the Sea Turtle Nursery Conservation Program.

Noppasorn Siripakdee, JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa’s Director of Human Resources on behalf of the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation with Kewalin Sukumjittanon, Senior Marketing Communications Manager, Sean Panton, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Kittipan Sabkhoon, Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation Coordinator visited the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) at Phuket’s Panwa Cape to make the donation. JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation raised funds and awareness of the protected sea turtles and the preservation of the Mai Khao area which facing multiple threats, the sea turtles’ numbers have severely depleted in recent years. Commercial fishing kills thousands of them every year, while many more die from eating or becoming trapped in plastic debris littering the ocean.

Also the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation’s efforts have included a beach and reef clean up, fundraising mini marathon, an educational project for Mai Khao students and released turtles back into the Andaman Sea.

The 4th Mai Khao Turtle Release marked the 11th anniversary of the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation. The THB 100,000 donated by the foundation included funds raised at this event, along with donations by guests at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club, Marriott’s Mai Khao Beach, Anantara Phuket Villas and Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa.
