Jason Makoto DeRülo is a native of Maiami, Florida. His talent was shown since the age of five eight when he started performing and wrote his first song titled, ‘Crush On You’ at the age of eight. He’s graduated of the New York American Musical and Dramatic Academy.
Since he met his manager at the age of twelve, he’s been writing songs for Diddy, Lil Wayne, Sean Kingston, Cassie, Lil Mama and others.
Derulo’s music career began with his debut single, ‘Whatcha Say’, which was released in June 2009 by Beluga Heights/Warner Bros.

Has anyone noticed that the whole chorus of this song, which is what made it a hit, was ripped off — note for note — from Imogen Heaps' "Hide and Seek" from about 5 years ago????

Totally agreed! Somtimes this song reminds me of 'kiss me thru the phone'….there's nothing but 'Six, seven, eight, triple nine, eight, two, one, two……..'
But lastly it hits the chart and of course, we listen to it!
