The Punchline Comedy Club is back this February at the Holiday Inn Resort in Patong with what is probably the finest line-up so far this year. The three comedians on offer – John Moloney, Stewart Francis, and Pete Johansson – have over sixty years of stand-up experience between them, so you can be assured of a fun packed night full of laughter and fun. It all takes place in a spacious, air-conditioned venue with a ‘comedy’ bar selling drinks at sensible prices (Beer ฿100, Selected Spirits ฿120, Wine ฿140). So come on down to the Holiday Inn for some good times – it would be crazy NOT to.
Following his performance in 2002 and a storming performance on their televised gala, John was the UK Representative on the Just For laughs National Tour of Canada, playing to 75,000 people in 25 nights.
Winner of the Best Live Performer award for two years running at the London Comedy Festival, John has become one of Britain’s most in-demand comedy acts, a true comic talent.
John was also delighted to be nominated in the category ‘Best Live Stand-Up’ at the influential British Comedy Awards.
“Good old fashioned stand up. He is acutely funny at his deadpan and beautifully bitchy best.” The List (Edinburgh)
“A powerfully funny act.” Time Out (London)
“A triumph of Quality over Hype.” The Sydney Herald
Pete loves performing and his natural talent has brought him many successes in his career. His down home simplicity, bent perception, & brainy insights leads him to a unique point of view that engages the audience’s attention, tweaks their curiosity, and satisfies their need to laugh.
“This is the funniest first hour I have ever seen from a comic here in Edinburgh. Johansson is assured, relaxed, open and gently hilarious onstage … This is observational, anecdotal, autobiographical comedy at its best. His closing riff on engagement rings, intimacy and anal sex is one of the unmissable joys of this year’s Fringe.” Kate Copstick, The Scotsman (UK)
“One of the comics to watch in Aspen is Pete Johansson.” Hollywood Reporter
“Laughter fest… Hilarious” The List (UK)
As a stand-up, Stewart is the King of the One-Liners. Described by Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show (CBS) as “One of the funniest comedians in the world”, Stewart has performed his razor sharp brand of humour worldwide including North America, Great Britain, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and the Middle East.
He has made numerous television appearances. In the US, he’s appeared multiple times on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson; he hosted the Canadian game show You Bet Your Ass, and in Britain his TV appearances include The Comedy Store, BBC’s Mock the Week, ITV’s For One Night Only and Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats.
In addition to acting and stand-up, Stewart has also written for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
“A brilliant comic brain…this stand-up cracks some of the best one-liners I’ve ever heard.” The Guardian (UK)
“Stewart Francis’ gags are razored-down one-liners with disarming set-ups lurching into twisted and bitter pay-offs, drier than a Manhattan martini.” Scotland On Sunday
“It’s rare to be left with such a sense of admiration for a comedian’s writing talents.” Edinburgh Evening News
