Fans of blues and rock should mark February 25 and 26 on their calendars since those are the dates of the 2011 Phuket International Blues Rock Festival. It will be hosted by the Hilton Arcadia Resort on Phuket’s Karon Beach, from 6pm until midnight daily.
Participating musicians will include: Curtis Salgado, who won the 2010 Blues Foundation’s Annual Awards; Mason Ruffner, an US rock legend whose song Gypsy Blood was a Top 10 hit in 1987; John Meyer, a famed Australian guitarist; The Prodigal Sons, a group of Norwegian rockers influenced by the Rolling Stones; Torgny Sandgren, a Swedish blues band; Paxton & Stuart Bush, an acoustic duo from San Francisco and Australia; and the home-grown Phuket All-Star Blues Band.
Tickets for admission on both days will cost you 1,500 baht at the gate and 1,200 baht if purchased in advance. The VIP-class equivalents are priced at 3,500 and 3,000 baht, respectively.
Proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Club of Patong Beach to support the education of local children. Call 08-6682-2639 or email email@example.com for tickets, or visit http://www.phuketbluesfestival.com for the concert schedule.
