From 2nd until 5th December 2011 Phuket is holding yet another world class event, this time in the form of our very own “World Musiq Festival”.
This special 4 day event, organised by Phuket Provincial Administrative Office & Lavelle Entertainment, is being held to honour His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 84th Birthday Celebration (7th Buddhist Cycle), which officially falls on 5th December, and is one of the most auspicious occasions in the Thai calendar.
Lavelle Entertainment is one of Asia’s leading world musiq and culture organisers and the creator of this event. Todd (Tongdee) Lavelle, Managing Director of Lavelle Entertainment, is the son of German-American Father and Black Irish Mother who was born & raised in a foster home in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA, along with 40 other foster children.
Tongdee’s extensive past in the world musiq business has seen him compose over 300 published songs and 10 original World Musiq albums, produce 15 World Musiq CD’s by Thai folk artists & more. Moreover, he has created, produced and directed more than 30 World Musiq Festivals throughout Thailand and in 5 other countries. He is also seen as an Ambassador, having brought Thai culture, music & art to the US & 10 other countries in both concerts and festivals with all logistics handled by his team.

The Batucada Drums – playing the most traditional and original rhythms of Rio de Janeiro
Hassan Hakmoun – brings you Moroccan Gnawa music an integration of African rhythms with Arabic context
These are only a few of the artists who will be performing at Phuket’s “World Musiq Festival”. But we can inform you the event will be opened by our very own Nakhon Phuket Youth Orchestra performing the “Phuket Symphony of Youth” and will feature a special performance by the local “Phuket Sea Gypsies”.
The Phuket World Musiq begins at 5:30 pm each evening and continues through to midnight with great food, exhibitions and, of course, world musiq. The entire event is FREE so come and help ‘Open Phuket to the World and Open the World to Phuket’.
